Movement is life, our ancestors said, and they were right. Scientists estimate that over the past 100 years, people have started moving 96% less, and insufficient physical activity, or physical inactivity, as it is called in medicine, ranks fourth among the causes of death, behind only hypertension, smoking and high blood glucose. According to WHO, more than 3 million people die annually from lack of physical activity.
Physical inactivity can be caused by objective reasons, for example, disability, severe and long-term illness. But in most cases, this is due to improper organization of lifestyle, or sedentary work and poor organization of the workplace.
Symptoms of hypodynamia appear gradually. These include increased and rapid fatigue, reduced work capacity, sleep disturbances, increased unexplained nervousness, regular headaches of varying intensity, increased risk of fractures, weight gain, shortness of breath with light physical exertion, back pain.
Due to insufficient physical activity, strength indicators, muscle volume and mass decrease, neuroreflex connections are disrupted, which can lead to the development of vegetative-vascular dystonia and depressive states.
Hypodynamia, due to the slowing of blood circulation, leads to the development of non-infectious chronic diseases, such as colon and breast cancer, type II diabetes, coronary heart disease, obesity, hypertension and osteoporosis, etc.
The above-mentioned pathological conditions lead to a decrease in the quality and duration of life. Without exaggeration, WHO experts call the lack of physical activity a new epidemic that threatens the future of humanity, and encourage people in every way to be physically active and pay due attention to their workplace at home and in the office.
